The Science of Geography and Planning could perhaps be better summarised as the study of the world: its people, its resources, its environments and their interactions. It investigates the major physical and human activities and their various interactions. By examining the impact of human interference with the natural environment, humankind comes into grips with the constraints and potentials of natural systems for human activities.
So the geographical sciences are therefore dedicated to the acquisition of knowledge and its application to the contemporary challenges of the human society and the environment.
